MISSION STATEMENT

Search Foundation, Inc. is a group of like-minded individuals who believe it is essential that the events regarding the murders of the Russian Imperial Family and their loyal subjects be factually documented and preserved for posterity.  Furthermore, we have taken it upon ourselves to search, recover and identify the remains of two Romanov children. In June 2018 we completed our eighth forensic expedition to Perm, Russia, where we searched for the remains of Tsar Nicholas II's younger brother; the Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich and his secretary Nikolai Johnson.

The members of the Foundation are a group of scientists, writers, clergy, businessmen and interested individuals. Members include: Bishop Basil Rodzianko +, author Robert K. Massie, author Marilyn Swezey, Amy Ballard, Dr. Alexander Ganza, Nadja von Lowenstein, Margarita Nelipa, Nicholas B.A. Nicholson, Peter Y. Malyshev,  Masha Tolstoy-Sarandinaki , Anna Rodzianko, Deacon Alexandre Sarandinaki and Captain Peter Sarandinaki.

S.E.A.R.C.H. has worked in Russia together with the Obretenye Foundation from Ekaterinburg. The Director of the Obretenye Foundation is Dr. Alexander Avdonin, who originally found nine out of eleven sets of remains consisting of Tsar Nicholas II, his wife, Empress Alexandra Fedorovna; their children, Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, and Maria; the Leib-medik of the Imperial Family, Dr. Evgeny Sergeevich Botkin; their faithful servants, Anna Stepanovna Demidova, the Empress’ maid; Alexei Egorovich Trupp, the Emperor’s kamerdiner (valet); and cook for the Imperial Family, Ivan Mihailovich Kharitonov. Missing from the 1st grave were the remains of the Tsarevich Alexis and those of his sister, the Grand Duchess Maria.

The whereabouts of the two missing sets of remains greatly baffled investigators and the Russian Commission. Avdonin told the Commission:

"If we could find these two bodies, then everything would be clear, everything would be concluded, the story would be complete."

The remains of Tsarevich Alexei and those of his sister, Grand Duchess Maria were found in July 2007 after four separate forensic searches.
The SEARCH Foundation, Inc. coordinated the DNA studies of the newly found remains.

Unfortunately, after the last two Romanov children's remains where found and positively identified to be the Tsarevich Alexis and Grand Duchess Maria Romanov.  the Russian Orthodox Church did not accept the scientific finding. Citing that questions regarding the murder of the Imperial family still have not been answered. The remains of Tsarevich Alexis and his sister Maria have still to be buried. I decided then to start the search for the remains of Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich Romanov and his secretary, Brian Johnson.

We propose that by searching, finding and identifying the remains of Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich and his secretary Nikolai Johnson, and working closely with all parties we will be able to finally close with dignity, an important, but sad, chapter in Russian and world history.
